AC Cobra replica built by Contemporary Classic in 1985.
Many works carried out in 2015 including engine and paint.
Imported to France and registered in 2021.
Unique owner since and reliable.
Documentation in order, unlike many replicas in France.
Contemporary Classic produced chassis superior to the original Cobras, according to contemporaries’ comparisons, and I assure you the chassis is impressive. The factory became Factory Five in 1996.
Classic/ collection registration card, FFVE certificate. The registration card is compliant with the builder as "Contemporary Classic" and the year of construction 1985. It is therefore 100% in line with regulations, unlike some replicas with poor registration documents.
Tubular chassis 4" as the originals (10 cm diameter).
Ford Windsor 5L engine i. e. 302 cubic inches bored out to 306ci.
Power around 300 hp.
Compression readings good on all 8 cylinders.
T5 BorgWarner gearbox from 1984 (which sold its patent to Tremec in the 1990s)
So identical to a Tremec 5‑speed.
Edelbrock dual-plane Performer RPM Air Gap aluminium intake.
Ford black/ shaft-brushed aluminium valve covers.
Aluminium staggered Cobra air filter.
Cooling system with an electric fan controllable from the cockpit to improve cold starts.
Holley 4‑barrel 600CFM carburettor with secondary circuits pilot-operated by vacuum.
15" tyres for an original look, BF Goodrich nearly new, less than 30% wear.
235 at the front, 295 at the rear, 30% worn.
Spare wheel stowed in the boot.
Halibrand wheels with chromed lug nuts and centre caps.
Jaguar E‑type front and rear suspension.
Front discs, red calipers.
Rear discs on a central axle.
Paint and bodywork redone in 2015 in the USA, photos available: minor scratches visible but nothing deep. To be corrected with polishing/ restoration.
Black leather seats in good condition.
Driver’s seat adjustable, suitable for heights from 1. 64 m to 1. 90 m.
I have carried out several reliability improvements, notably on electrical circuits and the cooling system. It is perfectly well set up, runs reliably on long trips without issues.
The exhaust note is absolutely superb.
