Description
Classic Car Design offers you this pretty Simca 1200S coupé born from the collaboration between Simca and the Turin coachbuilder Bertone, with the design credited to the young Giorgetto Giugiaro. In this sporty version, this elegant coupé was produced in under 15, 000 examples between 1967 and 1971. The car presents a fine overall condition. It is in its original configuration. Its last owner restored and lovingly maintained it over the last 20 years.
Externally, the bodywork shows a good overall condition; you’ll notice some minor signs of aging and use that do not detract from its overall look. Important point: the hubcaps, trim and other chromed parts are all present and in good condition. The BWA wheels add a touch more sportiness.
Inside, it retains its authentic character with no restoration; only the dashboard vinyl has been replaced. The entire upholstery remains in good condition, the driver’s seat having suffered more than the rest, notably the seat base. The owner’s wife had made covers using blankets far more comfortable than vinyl in summer! The period radio is functional but, unfortunately, there are no stations to tune in.
The four-cylinder engine mounted at the rear starts without hesitation and revs up with liveliness, a sign that the two Solex carburetters are well tuned. The whole mechanicals are in good working order.
The Simca 1200S is a nice alternative to the Italian and German sports cars of the 60s. It is a model that combines elegance, sportiness and reliability with a touch of originality.
