Daily driving, with family or on tours... in an artwork that defies time. This model, the final evolution of the 365 GT4/ 2+2, introduced in 1972, reveals itself today as a magnificent exception: under the bonnet, the legendary Colombo V12 in its final run, a four-seat saloon interior, and the pleasure of an automatic gearbox. And if this rare Ferrari was, for its era, 40 years ahead...
The 365 GT4 2+2 appeared at the Paris Motor Show in 1972, it was a sensation, an innovative silhouette, majestic proportions, under the bonnet the magnificent 4. 4 L V12 directly from the mythical GTB/ 4 Daytona. The 412 is its perfected form.
The 412, a city or touring coupe, the fruit of a unique alchemy, takes on a new dimension in this configuration.
Ferrari 412s are rare; 576 were built in total, of which only 245 were equipped with an automatic gearbox and left-hand drive. This one, beautifully preserved, was delivered new in France in 1987 by Ets. Pozzi in a particularly elegant colour combination: metallic silver, dark blue leather and matching carpets.
Its first owner held onto it for only twenty-eight years; it subsequently passed to three other owners; its odometer shows just over 61, 000 km.
In use, the automatic gearbox is a joy to discover and appreciate; clearly smooth and comfortable in town, it is perfectly suited to long-distance journeys; and of course nothing prevents, if you know how to use it, from enjoying the unique howls of the wonderful V12.
If the 412s, a few years ago, were somewhat neglected, that is no longer the case. Times have changed and we observe that the trend has clearly shifted, rightly so.
The very philosophy of this model, traffic conditions and the generalisation and ease of use of automatics in daily driving make such a model an increasingly sensible choice; it lets you enjoy the mechanical magic and elegance of this Classic Ferrari, and access the dream realm of all automotive enthusiasts, without constraint.
