The Jensen Interceptor Mk III: a hand-built grand tourer assembled at the Kelvin Way factory near Birmingham, steeped in a heritage dating back to the 1950s, but above all famed for its timeless elegance and irresistible style.
What makes this Mk III so special? A decisive evolution in craftsmanship and materials. After long relying on fibreglass composites (a nightmare for restorers), Jensen triumphantly returned to an all-steel body, designed by the legendary Italian firm Carrozzeria Touring. It’s like a glass of limoncello served with a beef Wellington.
The Mark III, introduced in 1971, brings subtle improvements to the front end, bumpers and lighting, while alloy wheels from GKN, air conditioning and redesigned seats become standard. Depending on the production date, one could get a G, H or J series.
This particular example, dated 1971, is equipped with the highly sought-after 7. 2-litre Chrysler V8 (440 ci) under the bonnet. The previous 6. 3-litre gave way to what is in effect a British gentleman in a costume of American power: imagine a tweed jacket, impeccably groomed moustache and a passion for hamburgers.
Our “Gentleman’s Express” has just benefited from a full service: brakes and front suspension overhauled, new radiator, refreshed interior and repainted wheels. Every detail has been attended to, leaving the car in magnificent, corrosion-free condition.
Originally delivered to Paris—with its charmfully yellow headlights—this car comes from an exacting private collection and is now ready for its next owner.
