Description
The good days are here, so let’s feel joy while driving a classic…
Totally original, superb, and very rare BMW 2002 Baur convertible, manufactured September 1975, colour Chamonix White.
Only 762 examples of this type were built between 8/ 73 and 12/ 75.
This one is the 710th produced, which contributes to its rarity and its very exclusive character.
The car, which is a true four-seater, is in very good condition externally and internally, nothing is missing, everything is original, there is even the owner’s manual specific to the cabriolet.
Registered in November 1975, the car had its second owner from 1994 to 2008.
Since 2008, its third and current owner, very meticulous and owning several BMWs, has driven only around 3, 000 km per year.
Maintenance has nonetheless been meticulously carried out, both by me and at a BMW dealership; many invoices provide a clear history for a well-documented and substantial history.
In 2015, the clutch was replaced, as were all front and rear suspension bushings (silent-blocs) and all flexible brake hoses. The original exhaust was replaced with a stainless steel exhaust.
In 2023, a total of over €5, 500 was spent on replacing the valve stem seals, the timing chain - these operations required removing the cylinder head; all joints are new -, the driveshaft flex, the steering rods, etc.
In 2026, the fuel tank will be replaced.
The odometer shows 61, 587 km with little movement; the car starts at the drop of a hat and can take you instantly for a relaxed drive or a long journey.
The four speeds (plus reverse) shift very smoothly, and all onboard equipment works perfectly.
A rare option for its era, all glass is green-tinted which, with its Chamonix White colour, gives it an absolutely dazzling appearance.
The wheels are the BMW period option with the Alpina look, etc.
The chrome trim is in excellent condition, the front and rear seats are superb and not perforated, the dashboard is not cracked.
The folding hard top mechanism folds away in 30 seconds (storage provided with the original OEM supports in the rear boot), and the convertible roof folds away in 20 seconds; its mechanism is fully operational and very easy to operate.
These features make the 2002 Cabriolet Baur a coupe/ cabriolet ahead of its time.
According to your wishes, you can drive with just the hard top stowed, or just with the hood stowed, or both!
A BMW 2002 is an extremely reliable car and requires very little maintenance.
The car can be viewed and test-driven by appointment for any enthusiast eager to acquire a collector’s item.
