I’m selling my 2005 Mercedes C55 AMG Estate, a powerhouse of a car that still flies under the radar! The C55 Estate was built in limited numbers—just 595 units—driven by the renowned indestructible 5. 4-litre V8 M113. This wagon even served as an FIA medical car at Formula 1 Grands Prix from 2004 to 2007, covering 78 Grands Prix in total, making it one of the planet’s rarities! Moreover, this particular example was sold and maintained for over a decade at Affalterbach by AMG himself. It’s a little-known car, save for the specialists, compared with the later W204 generation and its mythical 63, but it wears a more low-key persona rather than a big-bad-boy image. Think of it as the “good family man” sleeper: the surprise is real for those around you who know only the widely spread diesel versions of this era, and who’ll struggle to keep up at any accelerator blast on road, motorway, or at the tolls. This generation, phase 2 with the front end and CLK W209 underpinnings, is far more elegant and finished than the original W203. As a compact estate, it’s incredibly practical with its large cargo capacity. You could compare this AMG to the Alpina cars of its day—offering more refinement, exclusivity and performance. Finish is distinctive (notably the upholstery), and the equipment was advanced for its time (xenon headlights, auto lighting of lamps and wipers, Harman‑Kardon sound, navigation/ information system), reminding you that, 21 years ago, it belonged to high society. It’s a world away from today’s AMG Line versions on the 180 CDI… I imported it after an appraisal by a French Mercedes/ AMG expert, and I retain this document for the future owner. Since then, this C55 has received meticulous maintenance from a dedicated AMG specialist (GAM 91)... Engine oil change (1×/ year) & automatic gearbox service (07-23), Ruthenium spark plugs x16, Radiator water pump and fan with recent control unit. Front/ rear Bilstein B8 shock absorbers (09-23), Michelin Pilot Sport 5 (09-24) + geometry. Ethanol flex management E85 by a professional, runs on E85 or SP98 interchangeably. Cost per kilometre on E85 is about 50% cheaper than SP98. I have a spare wheel set with winter GoodYear ULTRAGRIP 8 PERFORMANCE tyres 225/ 40R18, MO spec, 3PMSF. No TAKATA airbags ;-)
