Description
JAGUAR XK150 3. 4 FHC LHD, 1959
CHASSIS No. S835242
ENGINE No. V2883-8
A very fine example of a 1959 Jaguar XK150 fixed-head coupé, matching numbers.
Rare left-hand drive.
This car underwent a major body restoration in 2007: after a complete disassembly, it was sandblasted and repainted. Any defects and wear on the bodywork were fully rectified. Many cosmetic items were replaced: all chromed fittings, bumpers, the grille, all rubber seals, the windscreen…
The wheels too.
A complete folder documenting the work carried out and parts orders attests to this.
To date, the paintwork has been well preserved, with a light patina that gives it an attractive retro look.
Panel alignment is satisfactory. The chrome is bright.
Chassis side: the underbody, floorpans and longitudinals show no corrosion according to the inspection.
As for the trim and interior, the dashboard is in excellent condition and the instruments are fully functional.
The seats—certainly reupholstered in the past—have a lovely patina, and here and there you can spot a few light signs of age-related wear.
The headlining is well preserved. The carpets/ mats (changed) are in excellent condition.
On the engine side, it is equipped with its two original SU carburettors. The engine number correspondence on the plate and on the block is confirmed.
The inspection found that starting, idling, pulling through the rev range and the exhaust are all satisfactory.
The compression test confirms the engine is in good health:
Cylinder 1: 9 bar / Cylinder 2: 9 bar / Cylinders 3 to 6: 9. 5 bar
The current owner maintains it properly and has carried out a number of works:
- Refurbishment of the front suspension (bearings, silent blocks…)
- Clutch refurbishment
- Refurbishment of the braking system
- Refurbishment of the steering rack (steering silent block replaced with a кардан joint for optimal reliability)
- Refurbishment of the electrical circuit
- Refurbishment of the fuel tank sealing
For reliability, some additions and modifications have been made:
- installation of an additional electric cooling fan
- installation of an electric fuel pump
- installation of an aluminium expansion tank
- installation of a servo-assisted brake (servo)
In short: a sound car, made reliable, restored just to the extent needed to preserve its period character.
