Description
Vintage Caps, specialists in Sport & Collection vehicles in Lyon, presents this automobile for your consideration—carefully selected and accompanied by a detailed presentation.
We are delighted to present this 1965 Mercedes 230 SL “Pagoda”, offered in European-spec as a cabriolet with a navy blue hard top, finished in an elegant Papyrus White 717 G combination with a navy blue interior.
Its last owner acquired it eight years ago and has looked after it with great care.
Produced in the mid-1960s by Mercedes-Benz, the 230 SL launched the legendary “Pagoda” line. It’s powered by a 2, 306 cc straight-six producing 150 bhp, mated to a four-speed manual gearbox sending the drive to the rear wheels—an iconic specification that blends smoothness, mechanical enjoyment and timeless elegance.
The bodywork, mounted on a self-supporting shell, underwent a full restoration in 2010–2011 and is now presented in excellent condition.
The wheels, painted in body colour with chrome trims and navy blue centres, blend perfectly with the overall look. They are fitted with Michelin tyres.
The cabin, restored during the same period, closely preserves the original configuration. It features navy blue faux leather upholstery in very pleasing visual condition, carefully maintained woodwork, and its period Blaupunkt radio.
The navy blue mohair soft top, along with the original hard top in the same shade, completes the set beautifully.
On the mechanical side, the M127 engine, compliant with the model presented, was overhauled in 2018 with the installation of a new cylinder head suited to use with unleaded fuel.
The running gear and braking system were restored in 2010–2011 and then overhauled again in 2018.
The vehicle is registered on a French collection vehicle logbook (carte grise de collection).
Valid technical inspection, service invoices available, as well as a copy of the original manual.
Part-exchange possible on your collection vehicle.
We are at your disposal for any further information.
