This magnificent Jaguar Type E roadster (XK-E in the United States) Series 2 was sold new in Connecticut, USA. This Jaguar is a real time capsule: the car is largely original and comes from its second owner.
The Type E was bought from its first owner (a lady) in 2014 and shipped to the Netherlands, where it has been cared for by its second owner ever since. Everything is original on the car except the paint, which was repainted in 2015.
The underside of the bonnet still has its original paint, just as it left the factory in 1969.
The car has been very well maintained over the decades. In 2015, the odometer read 8, 462 miles; it currently shows 11, 096 miles. Given the car’s condition, the odometer has only completed one full revolution. This Jaguar Type E is still compliant with its original US specifications, with the original Stromberg carburettors, introduced on the Series 2 due to stricter American emissions regulations.
The bodywork and chrome are in excellent condition; the original interior shows signs of use and there’s a tear in the leather of the driver’s seat. Nothing less than a good trimmer can sort it, but the leather interior can be fully restored if you’d like. Mechanically, the car is in good condition and offers exceptional driving, sound and road-holding!
The Type E Series 2 brought major improvements in cooling, braking, safety, comfort and ergonomics, while adopting a noticeably different look thanks to its open headlights and larger rear lights.
