Lotus Cortina Mk1 (1964) FIA VHC Project – Rolling Shell + Nearly Complete Mechanical Package (Vegantune Cylinder Head, Type E Gearbox, Crossflow Block)
For sale: Lotus Cortina Mk1 – 1964 model year (Left-hand drive LHD, 2-door saloon).
Prepared for FIA Racing or circuit series, complete with Belgian registration documents (E705 – chassis Z74C….).
The bodywork has been fully restored: stripped back, completely welded/ reinforced, new aluminium door/ boot panels, and fresh Ermine White paint.
Chassis Specifications & Included Components:
• Complete 6-point FIA safety cage (Duez Racing)
• GAZ suspension fully adjustable front and rear (single leaf, FIA-compliant)
• Revised rear axle with double bearings & limited-slip differential (self-locking)
• All steering bushes are new (PROFLEX sleeves)
• Original DUNLOP 13-inch alloy wheels with new Avon CR6ZZ Sport tyres
• 4mm Perspex side windows & Competition aluminium fuel tank
• Lotus dashboard & Classic bucket seats
• Windscreen, rear window, wiring loom with automatic fuses and all lighting are present.
• A large assortment of miscellaneous parts is included to continue assembly.
MECHANICAL PACKAGE as OPTION:
To complete the project, the car can be sold with a highly coherent and potent mechanical package for the era:
1. VEGANTUNE Twin-Cam Cylinder Head: Complete with camshafts, ideal for transforming a Kent block into a high-performance DOHC engine. Extremely rare and capable of reaching approximately 180bhp.
2. 1600cc Ford Crossflow Engine: The perfect robust foundation to accommodate the Vegantune cylinder head.
3. Ford Type E Gearbox (4-speed): The legendary "Rocket" box, highly sought-after for its strength.
