Porsche 356 A 1600 Cabriolet, Reutter coachwork, first registered 1st July 1958. Chassis 150505.
Delivered new in France by Sonauto on 3rd June 1958. This isn't a claim on our part, it's written on the Porsche France certificate established on the chassis number, and it's in the file.
The same certificate says something else, and we might as well be upfront about it: the engine isn't the original one. The car left the factory with a 616/ 1 producing 60 bhp, it now runs with a 616/ 36 producing 90 bhp, which is the Super 90 unit. A Porsche engine from the same family, with fifty per cent more power. This 356 is not numbers matching. If that's what you're after, this isn't the car for you.
What it is, is a 356 that has received over €45, 000 worth of work between 2015 and 2021, with detailed invoices in the file.
The engine was completely rebuilt in November 2015 at The Workshop, for €20, 882. Mahle pistons and cylinders, reground and balanced crankshaft, machined cylinder heads, reground sumps, stainless steel valves and seats, oil pump, rebuilt carburettors.
The bodywork was refurbished in March 2016 for €6, 874. Wings, front mask, sills, doors and bonnet were removed, repaired, painted, and the chassis received anti-corrosion treatment. Second paint pass in February 2018, for €4, 152, on the bonnets, front face, front wings and rear panel.
Since then, regular servicing at The Workshop and GP Sport: new clutch, reconditioned ZF steering box, brakes overhauled, regular oil changes. The electrics were upgraded from 6 volts to 12 volts in July 2019, with an electronic ignition.
12, 455 km on the clock, and we need to be precise about this: this mileage is from the restoration onwards, not from 1958. In May 2015 it showed 1, 910 km. Since then, the progression is documented without gaps by eleven invoices, so roughly 10, 500 km over ten years.
Beige, with black leather interior and mohair hood. Steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, 165 R 15 tyres, chrome luggage rack on the rear bonnet, Speedster trim and US-spec bumpers. Originally ivory, colour code 5704 on the certificate.

And the original ignition key comes with the car. The factory only supplied one.
