Citroën Traction 7 Front 1. 6 34 bhp Manual gearbox 1935 Acquired since 2019 by a Citroën collector. It subsequently benefited from various repairs to the brakes and carburettor, and a replacement original gearbox from an older Traction Avant was fitted. The car was thus able to return to the road. Care was taken to preserve as many original parts as possible. This made it possible to repair the original German braking system rather than simply installing French parts, which would have been much easier. Despite its 1935 front axle and contrary to the opinion of certain so-called experts, it drives stably in a straight line and does not pull to one side, even under braking. Due to its historical significance, the owner has only covered approximately 200 kilometres in this car and has therefore decided to put this unique "Bollard" model back on the market. This car is a genuine sensation, as its history is almost perfectly documented. You can even find the original registration document and number plates from 1935. The previous owner's grandparents purchased two examples in Cologne in 1935: a standard model and this luxurious version with two-tone paint, leather seats and rear blind. The standard model saw heavy use and was probably requisitioned by the Wehrmacht during the war. The Wehrmacht did not requisition the luxury model because its engine block had cracked in the 1940s. The family simply poured wheat bran into the coolant, sealing the system sufficiently to allow the car to run occasionally until 1959. Like all other documents, the 1959 deregistration certificate is also available. Additional rear lights had to be installed in the 1950s. In June 2002, the car was taken out of its long hibernation, completely dismantled, then reassembled over the following three years. Every element was preserved to the maximum of its authenticity and the car was repainted in its original colours. The bodywork had only two small rust spots somewhere in front of the left rear wheel; these are now invisible. The engine block crack was welded and the engine was fitted with new liners and pistons. The original steering was completely overhauled, which required the manufacture of custom-made bearings. Nothing was to be modified; everything was to be restored to its 1935 condition. Therefore, neither the front axle nor the steering from a 1937 model, which improved handling, were fitted. Everything is exactly as it left the factory in Cologne in 1935. More clearly than on the three other surviving German cars, you can precisely discern what distinguishes cars produced in Cologne from those produced in Paris. The Siemens engines, for example, are painted red instead of green, the door and wing trims are different, the dashboard features a wood-grain finish (similar to that of a Facel Vega), the door stops are reinforced, all electrical components, including the headlights, are Bosch brand, the radiator is signed Wartenberg & Freund, the tyres are Continental, identical to the originals, and many other things besides. The body panels come from Ambi-Budd in Berlin-Johannisthal. Comprehensive photographic documentation of the restoration, carried out between 2002 and 2005, exists, although at the time it was entirely on paper and not digitised. Today, this documentation is itself a historical document. Its uninterrupted 90-year history is simply incredible, giving this car extraordinary historical value. In a way, it bears witness to Franco-German friendship, despite all past political conflicts.
