The final evolution of the XK line that established Jaguar's sporting reputation in the nineteen-fifties, the XK150 retains the twin-cam six-cylinder engine of its predecessors but gains a wider body, a single-piece windscreen and four-wheel disc brakes, a first for a production Jaguar. The Drophead Cabriolet version, with its lined hood, winding windows and two rear seats, is the most versatile of the three body styles.
This example, first registered on 1st January 1959, underwent a complete restoration several years ago. It presents itself today in a most elegant combination: white bodywork, navy blue leather interior and matching hood, on chrome-spoked wheels.
Mechanics:
Equipped with the XK 3. 4-litre inline six-cylinder engine fed by two SU carburettors, this XK150 starts easily and runs very well. The odometer reads 81, 000 miles
Interior:
The cabin is in excellent condition. The navy blue leather of the vertically-pleated seats is supple, unmarked, with a light and healthy patina. Carpets, door panels and dashboard are in good order, featuring its large four-spoke steering wheel and complete Smiths instrumentation. The rear seats and boot lined with blue carpet are clean. The navy blue canvas hood, with rear window, is in good condition.
Exterior:
The bodywork displays fine, uniform paintwork and chrome in good condition. This is not a recent concours-level restoration, but rather a well-sorted car, maintained and driven since, which is precisely what one seeks for trouble-free motoring.
