Description
There is something special about the early Beetles with the oval rear window, and this March 1954 example has a history worth telling. This matching numbers car has never been restored and has been carefully looked after throughout its life. It stayed in the same family until 2020, which is reassuring as far as its history goes. In 2020 the car received a fresh coat of paint along with a major mechanical overhaul. Since then it has covered only around 200 km. It retains its original 6-volt electrical system. At some point in its life, the semaphore indicators characteristic of early Beetles were replaced with conventional indicators, a modification that, incidentally, sits very well with the car's overall look. It is also certified as a Vehicle of Historical Interest by the Museu Automóvel de Famalicão. What makes this Beetle particularly endearing is its authenticity. It has never undergone a full restoration and has clearly enjoyed careful attention over the years. A charming Oval Beetle with a known history, ready to be enjoyed and to carry on its fine story. The car is located in northern Portugal, just 10 minutes from Porto International Airport. If you are coming from abroad and would like to see it in person, I would be delighted to collect you from the airport and show you the car, by appointment.
