Known history
The seller acquired this ** in 2020 from a Parisian partner dealership, specifically for a loyal client.
After some research, the car's history has been traced back to its first owner. The latter, who lived in Provence, bought it from the Citroën dealership Citroën Salon de Provence.
When he sold it in 2001, he confirmed the original mileage of 45, 368 km to the second owner. The second owner, born in 1933 and running two companies, had already owned two ** ; this one was his third. However, this ** was part of a collection of 14 cars and was therefore only used for special occasions. The repair invoices, totalling €24, 001, recorded during the second owner's ownership, include among other things a repaint in its original colour.
The third owner acquired the ** in 2011 with 59, 802 km on the clock and sold it in 2016, at 62, 216 km, to a Parisian collector. During the third owner's ownership, an exhaust valve seized, a common problem on engines that have been left idle for long periods. The engine was therefore removed and rebuilt by a firm specialising in Wankel and Citroën engines, and a stainless steel exhaust system was fitted. The available invoices for this period total €18, 282. 92.
The fourth owner was a Parisian collector who never registered the vehicle. Showing 62, 617 km on the clock, the current seller sold the car to a loyal client in 2020. Although this car had always been his dream, getting in and out of this sports coupé was too difficult for this retiree. He then saw a 1959 DS in perfect original condition in the seller's garage, fell in love with it, and asked them to put the ** up for sale.
In 2022, with 62, 726 km on the clock, an enthusiast of French classics residing in Berlin acquired it. Once again, the ** was in good hands, as its owner also owned a DS Cabriolet and a Facel Vega II – high-end vehicles always maintained by the selling garage. During the summers of 2022, 2023 and 2024, he used the coupé for his holidays at his second home near Bordeaux. On each trip, he covered between 3, 500 and 4, 000 km. Before and after each journey, the car was entrusted to the garage for a full inspection, and they were always able to fix the slightest problem.
The air conditioning compressor was notably replaced. To make starting the engine easier when needed, separate and more accessible battery terminals were installed.
In addition, the following parts have been replaced:
- Rear brake discs
- Brake master cylinder
- Hydraulic pump
- Rear wheel bearings (both)
- Alternator (with a more powerful model)
- All V-belts, including the main pulley
Over the past three summers, the car has proven exemplary in reliability. Since 2022, the coupé has covered 12, 841 km and more than €22, 000 has been invested in the works mentioned. It is currently used for long journeys and shows 75, 367 km on the clock.
Somewhat surprisingly, the owner has acquired a Ferrari Testarossa and therefore wishes to part with the **. He says he makes this decision with regret, as he adored this car, but the Ferrari is now his priority.
