The Appeal
Few cars do simple, reliable and unassuming quite like a classic Beetle. And yet these cars are now amongst the most distinctive on the road, and also very usable thanks to their robust mechanicals.
This 1972 Beetle is a proper ‘user,’ a car to get in and enjoy classic motoring. It is badged as a 1300, but the vendor tells us it is fitted with a 1200cc engine. It is also fitted with reliable electronic ignition and improved disc brakes to increase the drivability. This work was part of a 2020 overhaul that is documented in the photos.
There is scope to improve the cosmetics, but since it carries Contrôle Technique to September 2027, it is ready to run.
