The Appeal
The R75/5 was BMW's first post-war design. Introduced in 1969, these opposed-twin "Boxer" engine machines combined traditional BMW engineering with contemporary features, creating motorcycles known for their reliability, comfort, and distinctive character.
This 1972 example has been in the same ownership since 1995 and has proven its dependability, with the seller reporting it has never broken down in three decades of use. Maintained by its enthusiastic owner and kept in original specification, this R75/5 would make a superb addition to any collection.
The vendor says:
"This is a real usable classic which, in 30 years, has never let me down. It's very simple mechanically and generally easy to repair. All the parts remain available, and there are several specialist suppliers and enthusiastic clubs. I've tried to keep the bike original, but there are now many upgrades available: disc brakes, twin-plug cylinder heads, electronic ignition, etc. All in all, if you're looking for a comfortable classic ride you can use every day, there aren't that many bikes that are better."
