In the world of motoring, the two initials RS – standing for Renn Sport – attached to the Sierra allowed this car to achieve superstar status in the late 1980s. With the looks of a bad boy, it immediately captured the hearts of the public and drivers alike, becoming the scourge of roads and circuits against its greatest rivals, the BMW M3 e30 and Mercedes 190E 2. 3-16.
This is particularly true of the example we are offering, which thrilled fans in Eastern France at the time, when it was in the hands of the spirited Vosges driver Guy Deybach.
Behind the wheel of this car, he took part between 1989 and 1990 in several leading regional and national rallies, including Alsace Vosges, Mont-Blanc, Vosges du Nord, Lorraine, and Alpes Vaudoises, achieving some notable results including a 7th place finish and a class victory at Alsace-Vosges 1989...
The current owner acquired the car just over 10 years ago, directly from Guy Deybach. Whilst it was in reasonable condition and working order, he has since spent nearly €22, 000 perfecting it and providing the necessary maintenance and adjustments to this ferocious front-wheel-drive machine whose performance credentials are beyond question.
Sold with its rally, hillclimb and circuit competition licence obtained in 2020 and its period FFSA logbook attesting to its history, this sublime and effective Sierra RS Cosworth will delight a gentleman driver wishing to compete in hillclimbs or historic rallies, notably the Tour de Corse Historique, or other legendary events on the calendar.
