1979 Triumph T140 D Bonneville Special – the original Meriden factory custom with Lester alloy wheels, ready to ride, in regular use, with a year’s MoT and everything in full working order.
This is a lovely, lovely bike. The paint is flawless; the engine incredibly smooth for a T140; and it starts well hot or cold. It looks and rides like a brand new one. Just look at the photos to appreciate the condition. It was the subject of a ground-up rebuild a few years ago.
I bought it in 2016 and I’ve ridden about 1000 miles on it. It never pinks, even on 2-star petrol.
I’m only selling it because I have arthritis in my left ankle that is making it hard for me to use a left foot gearshift. I doubt I’ll ever have another T140 as good as this one.
There is a tiny oil leak from behind the cylinder barrel – about a teaspoonful after a run. I haven’t done anything about it as the engine is running so well. It hasn’t needed any oil top-ups since the last oil change about 800 miles ago and doesn’t burn any oil.
