Description
Reluctantly for sale due to a new project is my 998cc 1975 Morris Mini pick up. Family owned since the late 1980's but never used (stood up in a shed).
The pick up has been subject to a comprehensive restoration over the past 5 or 6 years. This includes ...
Body
Cab half floors and seat crossmember
Load bay floor
Inner/ Outer and top sills
Rear body sides and wheel arch buckets
Rear lamp posts, rear valance panels and tailgate hinge panels
Front wings
Inner-outer A panels
Front panel converted to correct commercial specification
Replacement original tailgate, doors and bonnet.
Repainted in Tweed Grey cellulose. The pick up was originally Glacier White but I wanted to alter it to represent an archetypical 1960's Mini pick up, as I remember them all as Tweed Grey. Underside painted in stone chip and then Tweed Grey cellulose.
Mechanical
Full engine rebuild including re-bore with Hepolite pistons, new crank bearings (crank was reground a few thousand miles prior). Oil pump, cam followers, complete rocker shaft assembly, including new rockers. Head and block faces skimmed. Not converted to unleaded - with my other A series engines cars, I have found this un-necessary). Converted to Accuspark electronic ignition. NOS Lucas distributor and coil
Full gearbox rebuild including ALL NOS gears, bearings and shafts. Gearbox replaced at some point with the later larger idler gear bearing (1979 onwards)
New clutch assembly and slave cylinder.
NOS genuine Unipart two silencer exhaust
NOS genuine petrol tank.
Replacement subframes - new radius arm shafts and bearings, new MOWOG bushes throughout, genuine ball joints, new wheel bearings, Lockheed wheel cylinders, hoses and shoes. Rebuilt master cylinders.
Original Girling shock absorbers.
Rebuilt steering rack.
Five new tyres and new hub caps.
Trim
Original but restored Tan commercial seats
New interior door/ dash cards painted in as close to correct tan colour as I could find.
Hardura floor covering to represent to original rubber matting
NOS original static seat belts.
New screen seals, window channels and door seals.
NOS rear lamp lenses and chromes
NOS genuine rear 1/ 4 bumpers
NOS front bumper and overriders.
There is more than just the above but this shows the extent to which I have gone to rescue this pick up and restore to an original specification vehicle, albeit to a more 1960's style. As you'll know, sadly many many pick ups have been modified and, in my eyes, ruined.
This has been restored by myself in my spare time from my job as a mechanical fitter for the oil industry. Only engine machining has been farmed out.
The majority of parts used are either NOS genuine BL/ BMC or OE quality such as old stock Lockheed, Unipart. All electrical components are either original restored or NOS Lucas parts. There are no cheap Chinese rubbish parts on this pick up !! All rubber components are genuine MOWOG branded rubbers, again no cheap rubbish that splits after two weeks !
Comes with a current, recent MOT, although would qualify for MOT exemption. Has not been out in the wet since restoration.
