Description
Introduced in December 1967, the W113 was an entirely new design, replacing the expensive 190SL of the 50's and early 60's. Designed by Paul Bracq, it broke tradition with earlier models with its straight fender lines and the light and airy detachable hard top with concave roof, the source of the nick name of "Pagoda". The car was intended to be lighter and faster than its predecessor and to this end, the bonnet, boot lid, tonneau cover and door skins were all made of aluminium and the suspension was greatly improved. This particular left hand drive example has, for the last 8 years formed part of a 12 car collection belonging to a fastidious owner and has been the subject of regular maintenance and improvements during his ownership. Both the Burgundy exterior paintwork and the cream hide interior are very attractive and in excellent condition and the engine bay has been detailed and presents very well. It is fitted with its original and very desirable manual gearbox and enjoys excellent road holding all of which adds to the driving pleasure. With perfect, fully restored examples of this model now fetching well in excess of £150, 000, this car represents wonderful value at £79, 950. (Viewing is highly recommended)
