Debuted at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2003 to replace the DB7, the Aston Martin DB9 is still widely considered to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing vehicle designs. Aston Martin’s intention with this car was to create a special, more accessible and available vehicle than their predominantly “exclusive” automobiles of the past. Based on Ford’s VH chassis both the platform and body panels are made primarily from Aluminium, then joined together by a special bonding adhesive. This design process allowed the DB9 to be produced on a larger scale, while increasing rigidity and reducing overall weight by almost a quarter.
Impressively, despite larger production numbers and the model’s commercial success, the DB9 still managed to retain its luxurious critique, with well-known Automotive programmes such as Top Gear giving the car a beyond “Cool” status, while others praised the vehicle’s sculpting with words like “rich”, “crafted” and even “almost decadent”. These positive reviews meant that the engineers and designers had achieved what they had set out to do; they had managed to make the DB9 quintessentially Aston Martin – it’s the feeling that you are looking at, listening to and sitting in something genuinely extraordinary.
This particular DB9 is no exception to the above; it is a visually stunning low mileage example, finished in a wonderful Mendip Blue metallic paint, with contrasting Sandstorm leather interior and Caspian Blue leather door and dash caps.
