Description
1962 Morgan Plus 4 Drophead Coupe LHD with under 37, 000 miles from new!
This car is in really excellent original condition, showing very little signs of being 56 years old! The car runs really well as it should with fresh oils, a full service and nothing needing to be fixed at all. The DHC version was the most luxurious and best finished model made by Morgan – for example it had the best Moss gearboxes allocated to it, selected for their silence, and it was also the most expensive model. The hood can be open to a coupe de ville position or lowered completely – see pictures. Perhaps because of the original price, DHC models are quite rare and very collectible.
The chassis, engine and body are in really good condition and the only signs that the car is not almost new is the bright metal which is no longer in the first flush of youth, but shines up well. The structure has recently been professionally restored, because there had been some flexing around the ‘B’ pillar (where the doors are mounted). Some of the timber was found to have weakened and needed replacement, and naturally seasoned ash was used in the restoration. The rigidity of the body is now probably even better than when new!
This Morgan has clearly been little used and has been just one of several cars available to all previous owners, always being well garaged since new. It has one of the last TR3 engines as it was made just as the TR4 was coming in to production. (Chassis No 5102, and Engine No TS82311). Fitted with 72 spoke wire wheels for extra strength.
Comes with original seating layout, (see picture) but I also have a pair of individual Morgan seats that could be available by negotiation.
The car is located in Epsom, Surrey, England. Recognising that a buyer might well be located abroad I will do what I can to help facilitate collection or shipping, if necessary.
