1946 Austin 8
Charming mid 1940’s Austin in excellent condition and considering she is 73 years old, a real testament to the British quality of cars built here during the decade, especially as WW2 had only ended a year earlier.
This particular car was registered in December 1946 and wears its original colour scheme of Jet black with blue leather trim and powered by a 4-cylinder 885cc engine and 4-speed non-syncro gearbox.

Bodywork The Austin is in very condition and has obviously had some light remedial work over the last 70 plus years. However all the panel gaps and fittings are all straight and solid. The paintwork is very shiny and looks to have been done a long time ago. The doors all shut with that lovely click and the chrome is also in excellent condition.
Interior
This can be described as time warped, with the only issue being a small amount of damage to the front seat upper cushion. The headliner, carpets and dashboard are all very good and all the gauges, switches appear to be working, as they should
Mechanicals The Austin again shines in this department, the engine is very sweet, the gearbox works excellent and the brakes are very good considering they are mechanical rather than hydraulic. She drives great with pretty good power from her little 885cc engine. Recently the Austin has had a new battery and service.
Summary
We love this car and the next owner will feel the same.
She’s not perfect but you don’t really need to spend a penny her. Just jump behind the, take a drive in the country and take yourself back to the late 1940’s. She is of course MOT and tax exempt.
