Description
This TA21 was first registered in 1951 and has a tasteful two tone marroon and beige colour scheme enhanced by the wire wheels fitted with Vredestein tyres including spare. It also has a factory fitted metal sunshine roof.
The full length twin stainless steel exhaust system gives a wonderful straight six exhaust note. There is a comprehensive history technical and data file showing most previous owners from new. There is a fitted tool kit in the boot consisting of mainly Alvis tools including jack.
To enhance performance to cope easily with modern traffic conditions it has been upgraded to a higher performance 130 horse power TE21 Alvis 3 Litre engine, the original 3 litre engine was 83 horse power. Also a five speed ZF type Alvis gearbox and TE21 rear axle for high speed cruising. At the same time it was fitted with front disc brakes which are also servo assisted.
It is of course MOT exempt. It has had a new clutch assembly fitted in 2017 during the present vendors ownership. The fuel tank contains the “Spitfire” fuel catalyst so lead free additive is not necessary. Two hardback books covering the 3 litre post war Alvis cars and other publications from AOC and Red Triangle etc are included in the sale. The purist may not approve but for pure driving pleasure the uprated 3 litre Alvis engine (130 BHP against the original 3 litre engine 83 BHP) Couple that to the Alvis 5-speed ZF box and do not forget the disc brakes will give you effortless cruising on or Motorways, at the legal limit. The history file contains lots of useful information, letters, road test reports from the “Motor” and “Motortrade”, dated 1952/ 53. Also there are recent invoices, hard backed books on the Marque signed by the author at the cost £35 plus others. This is a super car in good condition – may be viewed by appointment.
