This is a rare opportunity to buy a low ownership, low mileage, Triumph 2500S in excellent condition throughout. The car has an interesting history, as follows:
July 1976 - The car was purchased by the Nuffield Foundation on the recommendation of, and to be driven by, their Chauffeur/ Mechanic. In December 1983 this gentleman retired and was gifted the car as part of his retirement provisions from the Foundation.
1983 - 2008. The car was used sparingly and maintained by its original Chauffer/ Mechanic driver in his retirement until he passed away in December 2008 when it was inherited by his daughter.
2009 - 2013. Kept in dry storage and eventually sold to the last keeper in 2013.
2013 - 2019. The last owner recommissioned the car and used it, very sparingly, until earlier this year.
The result of this ownership and care is a lovely car which looks fantastic and is a delight to drive. It has, many years ago, been repainted in its original colour of Russet Brown but other than that it remains in almost completely original condition. The bodywork and underside are in excellent condition and the interior, whilst showing gentle signs of age and use, is in very good condition. The original radio is present and still works! Also retained is the original engine, which performs very well, and the Borg Warner three speed automatic gearbox operates as it should. Power steering and servo assisted brakes (discs on the front) were fitted when new and continue to work well, giving a light and easy drive. The same key fits the ignition and both front door locks, whilst, as originally, a separate key operates the boot and glovebox locks. The car is fitted with the original and correct Stag type alloy wheels and the tyres are excellent. The brightwork is generally good but there is some minor surface pitting to the bumpers.
Although MOT and road tax payment exempt, there is an advisory free MOT valid until 31/ 07/ 2020, and the car is HPI clear.
There is a history file which includes numerous documents relating to the car's history and owners, and that of the Nuffield Foundation, old registration documents, and several MOT certificates.
These late 2500S Triumphs are generally regarded as "the ones to have" in the 2000/ 2500 range of cars and this really is a great opportunity to acquire one in lovely condition, with a charming history, and which is ready to use and enjoy immediately. It really does deserve to be seen and driven to be fully appreciated.
Please call me, Robin Whittaker, on the number below for more details or to make an appointment to view this lovely car in my dry and well lit premises in Burwash, East Sussex.
