This 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce is powered by a rebuilt 1, 779cc twin-cam four that features SPICA mechanical fuel injection and is mated to a 5-speed manual. The previous owner replaced the engine date-correct block was sourced from the Alfa Parts Exchange, and a full rebuild was completed using many new parts along with machine work by Pearl Performance in Sacramento, California. The replacement block for this 1, 779cc inline-four is stamped #AR00551* 01828 which falls in the correct number range for 1969 engine production. The engine rebuild included all new liners, pistons, rings, hoses, and bearings.
A repaint in red was completed at an unknown date, including the engine compartment, trunk, door jambs and inside the fuel filler door. Chassis number AR1481207 confirms a 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce built for the US market.
The Duetto is one of the most desirable and collectible Alfa spiders. A total of 6, 325 units were produced from 1967 until 1968. Though the Duetto was produced for only 12 months, the impact of its production is undeniably stamped in the history of Alfa Romeo.
