original 1200 engine and gearbox drives extremely well, steering, braking perfect.
made in western germany wolfsburg 'hence proper tank tin metal' build date october 1959 rhd built and first delivered to south africa there it stayed in the dry hot weather conditions until being imported to the uk in 1995
originally yellow the beetle was stripped to a bare shell and repainted in dark blue pearl with soft fleck by paintbox in the southend uk complete colour change you would not know unless you were told, inside of all panels are blue. The under carriage bare metal then treated and painted with anti rust paint and rust oiled throughout.
1996 i came close to buying the beetle sadly someone beat me t. It !! drove to london to buy it however on arrival was told it was sold, could not resist having a look and yes fell in love wit. It. It had been painted to the blue it is today and was almost ready to go on the road, the owner had spent fortunes wanting a show car. At this time it had the original interior which was tan also the original steel wheels with the larger chrome hub caps, it was stunning, lowered almost on the floor ! (youtube classic lowered vw 1) you can see how the car was then. Crazy all these years later i found the car for sale but sadly looking to sell......
2012 the owner at this time spent thousands on engine and gearbox rebuild, a completely new west coast tan interior including new perforated headlining supplied and fitted also sprintstar alloys. I have majority of the invoices of the work and the parts purchased.
today peanuts still has the same paintwork by paintbox it has always been garaged or covered and regularly polished, the water simply beads of the body... there are some blemishes however cosmetic repair required nothing major, the interior is extremely nice and clean, certainly no tears, rips or marks. Drives extremely well, starts on the button, there is one problem pops out of 4th gear occasionally this could be adjustment or 4th gear worn, at best it will be a £30 fix at worst £250 to replace the gear or second-hand gearbox your choice, i will gladly help where i can. Reflected in the low and fair reserve price.
