Beschreibung
1937 Hillegass Special, well known and successful VSCC race car. She is based on 1937 Ford V8 axles and a Ford Model B engine and gearbox. She was found by Tom (Barnfinder) Cotter in a Pennsylvania barn in the 1990s and rebuilt by Kenny Berends (Chairman of the Vintage American Race Car Association), she is believed to be the second "Big Car" built by Hiram Hillegass, who went on to build over 200 race cars. Interestingly, she has two rear axle locations allowing her to run in period as a "Sprint Car" on the ovals or as a "Champ Car" on the circuits.
She has a full pressure lubrication system, Crower rods, Dan Price oil pump, twin 97 Strombergs, a full race cam, a Thomas Head, and a close ratio gearbox. She is easy and economic to run. Oulton 2. 37, Silverstone 1. 23, Donington 1. 42, Loton 72 seconds with aging driver.
A competitive and easy to run car with great potential for circuits or hill-climbs. VSCC Buff Form and MSUK Motorsport Passport. She has been refreshed and is ready to race.
