Presenting this 1970 Bentley T1 Sports Saloon For Restoration

- Originally owned by Sir William Shapland -
- Freshly discovered after many years in dry storage -
- One of just 1703 examples built -

EQUIPMENT:
Hand built steel & aluminium coachwork, Triplex "Sundym" glass, Bentley stainless steel wheel trims with colour coded bands, electric windows, central locking, electrically adjustable seats, power steering, centre console, front & rear armrests, front seat bellts with Bentley Britax buckles, Keinzle clock, leather head lining, polished burr walnut veneers, period upgraded stereo, rear vanity mirrors, 12v power sockets with cigar lighters, ash trays, & all of the usual period Bentley refinements

EXTERIOR:
Finished in the stunning period livery of Silver Sand

The coachwork remians in a very honest order & is untouched throughout, totally as discovered - lots of charming patina! Small areas have been coated in a protective primer finish during storage. All brightwork is original & complete as photographed. Upon inspection, this 1970 T1 is remarkably solid & straight down her flanks. She certainly makes for a very exciting & straightforward renovation for her next custodian

INTERIOR:
Optioned in Beige leather upholstery with Black top & knee roll.

The whole interior remains in an unrestored condition. The leather is thankfully still soft & supple & displaying timeworn patina throughout. The cabin will require a replacement carpet set, which are thankfully readily available & now inexpensive.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION:
Built with the traditional Rolls Royce V8 engine coupled to an automatic transmission producing an "adequate" Bhp figure

The wonderful V8 engine fires into life without hesitation, thanks to an expensive starter motor upgrade. During the many years spent in dry storage, the engine was regulary started & run up to temprature. After viewing the large quantity of service history records, it is very clear that the vehicle has never been short of exceptional maintenance since new.

This 1970 T1 starts, runs & stops - although - we must stress that no attempt has been made to recommission the car since removal from long term storage & this naturally will be required before road use!

HISTORY FILE:
Where to begin ... this is going to take some time!

Supplied new in January 1970 by Bentley Main Dealership, Mann Egerton, to the first keeper: Sir William Shapland, the chairman of the Hunsbury Machinery Co, of Northampton

Fast forward to 1991 & a Mr Donald Cameron was clearly besotted with his then newly acquired T1 & thankfully researched all previous keepers with some assistance from the Rolls Royce / Bentley dealership network & the Rolls Royce Enthusiast Club. Contained in a seperate document wallet is all of this research which is wonderful to read!

Viewing the comprehensive documents reveals that this T1 has been maintained by multiple marque specialists including, but not limited to: Hooper & Co London, Frank Dale & Stepsons & Petrie & Scott. Also contained within the near - to - bursting folder are eleven previous MoT test certificates dating back to 1989, road tax discs dating back to 2001, various correspondence from the RREC & previous keepers, V5c registration certificate and much more

Chassis SBH8063 entered long term dry storage circa 2005 & remained off road ever since. During this time, the Bentley has fortunatly been regualary started & moved to prevent failing components or major issues.

This 1970 T1 represents a unique opportunity to own, drive & restore a true survivour. Sadly, there are very few original & unmolested examples remaining.

SUMMARY:
Original & un-restored examples of T1's are now virtually impossible to find as enthusiasts realise the rarity & appeal of one of the finest post war models from the marque, with the best examples now valued in excess of £50k.

Optioned in one of the most stunning colours, she will only continue to rise sharply in appreciation
