Throughout the 1960’s and 70’s, Alan Mann Racing won numerous major championships including the British Saloon Car Championship, all with a variety of specially prepared Ford cars carrying his distinctive red and gold livery. Many of the leading drivers of the time were employed by AMR, including Sir John Whitmore, Jacky Ickx, Graham Hill, Sir Jackie Stewart and Bruce McLaren.
In 2003 Alan Mann shared an AMR liveried Lotus Cortina at the Goodwood Revival and then Rowan Atkinson’s Ford Falcon and the team was reformed!
In 2012 Alan Mann instructed his team to build a 1950’s saloon car for that year’s Revival St Mary’s Trophy. Clearly it had to be a Ford and having researched the best weight to power car from Ford’s 1950’s model range, he chose to build a Ford Prefect 107E. Like all his cars, it was built to be the best and not to budget!\
Sadly, the legendary team owner + driver died before seeing his son Henry share the car with BTCC star Matt Jackson at the 2012 Revival. This was the last ever car built under Alan Mann’s direction and features in his biography and magazine articles including the indepth lead article on the great man in Octane Magazine.
Henry Mann shared the car with Jackie Oliver + Matt Jackson before selling the car to Celebratory Chef, James Martin. James shared the car at 2014 Revival with BTCC legend + TV Star, Jason Plato. Due to television commitments James sold the car in 2016 to the current owner who has continued to enjoy regular appearances at Goodwood Revival in a standalone race to celebrate 60 years of BTCC in 2018 and shared with Richard Attwood in 2019.
This historic race car is immaculate and comes with its V5 road registration showing both James Martin and Alan Mann Racing/ Alan Mann as the previous owners. The car is race ready for Julius Thurgood’s leading 50’s saloon car series within his popular and friendly HRDC and of course future outings at Goodwood!
