A reluctant sale (aren't they all?!), due to health and storage issues.
I purchased the vehicle on 17/ 02/ 2020, and was looking forward to improving it. Unfortunately, due to the Pandemic, the free storage facility it was kept in was closed.
The paintwork is in excellent condition for it's age, with only a few stone chips and scratches. The interior is also in excellent condition with only minimal wear on the driver's seat bolster.
It came with a towbar and, although it was removed, it is available if required.
The CV Boot mentioned as an advisory has been replaced and the same time as an oil change (12/ 12/ 20). PLEASE NOTE. IT HAS JUST PASSED IT'S MOT WITH NO ADVISORIES.
The Head Gasket was replaced as a precaution, although there were signs of it begining to fail when examined after removal! The Water pump and cambelt was replaced at the same time. Total cost $689. 00
It comes with original Rover rubber mats and a recently purchased set of genuine Rover 45 mats ($33. 00). Please note; the Pound sign on my keyboard doesn't work, hence the Dollar sign!
Two sets of replacement wheel nuts were purchased to replace the corroded originals ($38. 00).
Other items purchased include;
New Centre Wheel Trims ($50. 00)
Silver Rubbing Strip ($30. 00)
Replacement Union Flag Badges and Rear '45' chrome badge.
Two new mudflaps ($30. 00)
Two new rear so called 'Crashbars', apparently called Extension - Sill Mounting! ($40. 00)
I've also removed the sill covers to check for corrosion and filled the inside of the sills with Bilt Hamber's Dynax S-50
Now for negatives!
Although it's remarkably rust free, it has had some welding to the front floor pan immediately behind the front wheel arches. I was happy with it at the time of purchase.
Replacement of the bush in the lower tie bar hasn't fully cured the clutch judder when pulling away in first, but it has made a big difference. I was going to try replacing other engine mounts in turn, but have run out of time and energy.
The material on the door trim has started to come away from the door card, a common problem but I guess it will be an easy fix.
I don't think I've missed anything, but if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Please note however, that if I win the Lottery, I will be buying a warehouse and keeping it!!!
Finally, I would love it to go to a Rover Enthusiast who will continue to give it the TLC it deserves.
