1967 Wolseley 1000
First registered 28th December 1967
Before we go into detail about this Mk2 Wolseley
This is a genuine factory built model for the African market only 456 examples where ever produced between Sept 1967 to Sept 1969 just 24 months. Each model had an individual body stamped on one of its two body tags. WA2S7 for Wolseley 1000 and a UK style Number either Austin/ Morris MA2S4/ AA2S7. Now only 18 are believed to be known of world wide, 3 are here in the U. K, 2 of which belong to myself. This model came to light by a BMC works manager who suggested a fresh new look front end with the short tail back as Blackheath (BMC Factory) didn't have the tooling or pressings for the extended rear.
This particular example is the Mk2 variant and supplied with a U. K V5 (reg YHR 694E) in our name. There is oceans of South African paper work with the vehicle along with the original BMC service book and purchase invoice verifying the cars origin of being a genuine Wolseley 1000. This particular body is a Morris Chassis number Vehicle, which will of left the UK as a CKD.
Very good strong unmolested example that I acquired from Africa through my car import business.
- details above details below1/
The body of the Wolseley is superb with factory sills, floors, genuine Mk2 double skinned boot lid
All the original features are still present along with its factory paint dove grey and protea white roof, basket weave seats, padded dash top cover, 9AKUH engine code, hydrolastic suspension, all the factory bright work and Australian spec doors.
The car is in running driving order with a valid UK MOT but by far is no show queen, the drivers seat has been changed at some point an so has the rear back rest. This is the perfect oily rag car or can be made into something very nice with little time and money.
These cars surely do raise eyebrows at any shows as people expect to see the extended boot. I'm quite sure there will never be 2 of these either again in the same place especially a Mk2 variant as the other 2 in the UK are mk1's.
