Description
Rare Flaminia Coupé GT Touring of the 1st series with a comprehensively documented history.
The car came to Luxembourg from Switzerland in 1973 and was owned by the same family there until 2013, until it came to Germany at the end of 2013. Since then the car has had 2 German owners.
The owners have carefully kept records of the events and work for almost 50 years. These extensive documents have been kept and preserved in several files to this day.
This shows that the car has always been lovingly cared for by the owners. As early as 1973, after the import to Luxembourg, the first major restoration work was carried out. A comprehensive restoration was commissioned from a Luxembourg specialist in 2001-2003. The body was also restored and repainted in the original color.
In 2013-2015, another restoration - including the entire technology - was carried out in Germany. The engine and gearbox were completely overhauled and the clutch renewed. New shock absorbers and an overhaul of the braking system were also on the agenda, as was a carburetor overhaul. The body was restored again (photo documentation available) and repainted in the original color.
The evidence of the work and parts are also available for this large project. A Classic Data report from 2016 is also included in the vehicle file.
Since then, the car has been carefully driven on a regular basis and any repairs and maintenance work have been carried out. A total of around 3, 000 km has been covered since the restoration.
The interior is in a very good condition, the carpets have obviously already been renewed.
The Flaminia GT Touring Coupé impresses with its fantastic charisma, which is reminiscent of the great times of the Lancia brand and still shows their high quality standards and the technical level Lancia had back then. Obviously, costs did not play a role.
The body shape looks classic and elegant today, the interior and dashboard are a feast for the eyes.
When driving, you not only notice the excellent and high-quality construction of the vehicle, but also its good technical condition. The engine starts immediately and revs up cleanly, the transmission shifts smoothly and precisely, and the suspension and brakes respond well. Fascinating that a car that is over 50 years old can keep up so well and easily in today's traffic!
The Flaminia series came onto the market in 1957 as the successor to the famous Aurelia. Like its predecessor, a V6 engine was standard.
Between 1959 and 1967, Lancia offered the Flaminia GT as an alternative to the Pininfarina Coupé, a lighter and sportier GT variant with a Touring body. Due to its wheelbase, which was shortened and its body made of aluminum on a tubular steel frame based on the Superleggera patent, this version, which was marketed as the "GT", had significantly better performance than its sister models. The weight advantage compared to the Pininfarina Coupé was around 200 kg!
As always with Lancia, the Flaminia series came up with technical solutions that were way ahead of their time: V6 engine, front axle with double wishbone suspension, transaxle design (=rear gearbox), to name just a few.
From the 1st series (until 1963, 2. 5 liter V6) only 863 units were built, in the 2nd series (from 1963) another 685 units were added. Only a few are likely to have survived to this day.
