Description
We are offering for sale this magnificent 1965 Lancia Flaminia Super Sport Zagato 2. 8L 3C, a desirable third series, recognisable by its recessed headlights and equipped with a 2. 8L three-carburettor engine developing 152 horsepower.
This car is in exceptional condition, having benefited from a meticulous restoration, completed in early 2022. Its history: Between 1969 and 1989, it was used daily in Paris by an Italian, an important Lancia collector, and was then registered 7900 AN 92. It was then sold in the early 90s to an enthusiast from the Paris region, who had noticed it on several occasions parked in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. We found an article from the Italian club "Benaco Classiche" in which this former owner recalls his history with the car: "This Flaminia Super Sport is the dream come true of my life as a Lancista. It was made possible by two people: its former owner, engineer Sarti, who sold it to me on 3 November 1990, and your vice-president Nino Romeo, without whom this car would not have become what it is today. 20 years of restoration is a long time... Doubt sets in, discouragement overwhelms you. But the passion is stronger and the work begins again. This restoration represents the expertise of exceptional men: mechanics, coachbuilders, painters, saddlers, all Italians, and with an admirable modesty in relation to their talent" He thus devoted 20 years to the complete restoration of this Italian. A few years later, in July 2014, he decided to part with it and entrusted the car to the Artcurial auction house. After its purchase, its last owner, who lives in the south of France, regularly enjoyed it on the sunny roads of his region. Unfortunately, on 3 October 2015, severe weather caused flooding in the car park, and the car was completely submerged in water. Its restoration file showed that there was no structural damage, but that it still needed a complete overhaul. This task was entrusted to a renowned French restoration workshop. The opportunity was also taken to change its colour scheme. Previously painted in 'Parioli brown' with a beige interior, the engine was refurbished, with worn parts such as pistons, connecting rod bearings, valves, valve guides and seats systematically replaced. The gearbox and rear axle assembly also underwent an overhaul, including replacement of the bearings, synchronisers and clutch. The bodywork was completely stripped and treated before receiving a new paintwork finish in a magnificent midnight blue, applied in a polished finish. Each stage of the refurbishment is illustrated by a comprehensive photo and video file. All the invoices, totalling more than €80, 000, are also included in the file. Today, its last owner, lacking the time to enjoy it, has decided to sell it. The number of examples of the Lancia Flaminia Super Sport Zagato produced varies according to sources. Some estimate that 150 were produced between 1964 and 1967, while others put the figure at 187. What is certain is that this is a rare model, whose appearances remain exceptional. Our vehicles can be seen just 5 minutes from the Porte de Versailles and the Parc des Expositions in Paris.
