Classic 1974 Mercedes Benz 450SL finished in Mercedes Benz white (code 050) with contrasting black hard and soft tops.
Being an early R107 this car retains many features only found on early production cars including pagoda style front seats with winged headrests, smaller and more attractive wing mirrors and the centre dashboard free from wooden inserts.
Over the past 47 years this lovely 450SL has only had 3 former keeps, having been originally registered to noted Architect John Roberts of London W1, whilst its most recent custodian took ownership over 15 years ago.
The mileage is incredibly low at just over 54, 700 miles which is backed up by the original service book and factory data card giving details of regular servicing between 1974 & 2003 whilst the online MOT history giving further credence to the low recorded mileage.
The interior can only be described as sensational, with the seats and door cards being finished in black MB Tex with black and white houndstooth check centres, whilst the dashboard is in first class condition without any splits or cracks. You would never believe this car is almost 50 years old, and really shows how far ahead Mercedes was when it came to the quality of their vehicles. The only non-original item is the modern stereo, but thankfully the original Blaupunkt radio cassette is supplied with the car.
The Mercedes SL is really more of a grand tourer that an out and out sports cars and this 450SL is powered by Mercedes’s legendary M117 SOHC 4. 5 litre V8. Quoted as producing a healthy 225hp (din) these super smooth engines allow these classic Mercedes Benz’s to keep up easily with modern traffic conditions and offers a comfortable and serene driving experience.
Before delivery to her new owner the delightful Mercedes will be fully inspected in our workshop, serviced and supplied with a fresh MOT.
Wonderful, useable classic motoring at its best.
