EQUIPMENT
Imperial Blue paintwork, Blue and Black leather / Alcantara upholstery, Sparco sports seats, 18-inch OZ Racing alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, Carbon fibre centre console, Push button start, Numbered plaque (1514), Leather-trimmed sports steering wheel, Sparco handbrake grip, Sparco pedals, Electric windows, Electric door mirrors, Bluefin exhaust (original present) and manifold, Stage 1 remap, ST170 Xenon headlights, Front lip spoiler, Various original spare parts, Tailored RS carpet mats, Spare key.
EXTERIOR
With only 12k miles to its name this low owner Mk1 Focus RS remains in truly stunning condition throughout. The sublime Imperial Blue paintwork is exceptionally well presented, and after visually inspecting the whole car the only negatives to report are a couple of light frontal stone chips and one small scuff along the front splitter – not being original to car this could easily be removed should the new keeper so desire. This time warp example has clearly led a sheltered life having always been carefully stored when not in use. As such, everything still looks really fresh including all of the glass, plastic trims, and rubber seals.
INTERIOR
The phenomenal as-new condition continues inside; it smells like a new car and we can’t find any wear in any of the usual places. The seat bolsters are immaculately presented, with other commonly worn items such as the steering wheel and gearknob both in perfect order. The dash, fascia and carbon fibre centre console are without any marks or scratches, and all the switchgear still feels reassuringly solid to operate, again showing no signs of use. In the footwells you’ll find the original RS overmats, and at the rear of the car the boot is very clean indeed.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Lifting the bonnet reveals a very tidy engine bay, not overly dressed but in excellent original condition with no signs of any damage or previous poor repair. A few nice upgrades to this example include a Stage 1 remap, upgraded manifold and sports exhaust (the full original exhaust is also included with the sale).
Despite having driven so few miles the RS is accompanied by a great maintenance history with 7 service stamps in the original booklet, the first 4 from the supplying dealer. Following on from a lengthy period in a climate-controlled storage facility, the car has just returned from having a major service and cambelt change at Evans Halshaw Ford. A full vehicle health check and MOT test were also carried out at this time for the new keeper’s peace of mind.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The Focus sits on its original OZ Racing RS alloy wheels, all in excellent condition with only one or two really small marks to report on very close inspection. They are shod in the correct 225/ 40ZR18 Michelin tyres all around, each one with plenty of tread left. The brakes have also been checked and remain in fine operational condition, the Brembo discs and four-pot calipers still providing excellent stopping power at all speeds.
HISTORY FILE
This sublime Mk1 RS was first registered in March 2003. It has now driven just 12, 616 miles from new in the hands of only 3 careful owners. It was purchased by the current owner for his private collection back in 2014, at which point the car was fully detailed and then placed into long term-storage. However, unlike many low mileage cars that end up simply ‘stored’ in the owner’s garage, this one was treated to its own container within a temperature and humidity-controlled document storage facility to truly preserve its amazing condition.
At the current mileage the car has just been fully serviced with a new cambelt and fresh MOT, all done at Ford in October 2021. The accompanying History File is complete with the leather RS document wallet, all owner’s manuals, a raft of invoices, MOT certificates, a spare key, and the original service booklet with 7 stamps at the following mileages: 3, 708 – 5, 206 – 5, 847 – 6, 280 – 9, 292 – 12, 371 – and most recently at 12, 610 miles.
