1988 - BMW e32 730i - E467 NEH
BACKGROUND
Supplied new back in March of 1988 by Halliwell Jones BMW of Warrington, and presented in a metallic Lachssilber, with matching grey, fabric seats and carpets. This is now a great opportunity to acquire a genuine, low mileage, example of the e32 BMW 730i, complimented with a full and exclusive BMW stamped service history from new.
The vehicle has come into my possession via a friend who had purchased the car from a gentleman, who had obtained the car from a family estate. It has been a mainly family owned from new, having its first four owners coming from the same family and household. The husband, wife and then two brothers due to bereavement. After that it has passed to the owner who sold it to my friend and then myself.
I have chosen to put the car in my name as I am not a trader, I am a car enthusiast. Over the years I have purchased many cars that interest me, sometimes to keep within a small collection and then on other occasions purely to just own for a short period of time.
HISTORY AND MAINTENANCE
With its ultra low, 38, 000 miles covered over a not inconsiderable 33 years, this e32 730i has clearly been driven lovingly and sparingly by its previous owners. During the ownership the car has been looked after exclusively by BMW, which is backed up in the stamped service book. As a basic average, the car has covered around 1100 miles per year.

MOT Expiry - 17th May 2022
There is a full compliment of the three original keys supplied with the car and all the owners manuals, service book and associated literature are present and in the bound BMW wallet. Accompanying all this is a huge array of old MOT certificates, all dating back to the early 90’s and also a few vintage tax discs thrown in for good measure.
INTERIOR
Upon opening the door, you are greeted with a virtually as-new fabric interior, which belies the car’s age. This is both very clean and free from any kind of notable wear. The car came to me with no less than four sets of floor mats, which in turn have played their part in protecting the thick piled carpets underneath from the elements. The rear seats appear to have seen very little use for a major part of the cars life, which is also the case upfront; both driver and passenger chairs again showing little to no wear at all. The headlining above is in pristine condition and there is no sagging of the material or any kind of staining indicating a leaking electric sunroof.
EXTERIOR
For a 33 year old vehicle, the exterior bodywork really is in an exceptional condition for its age. Although not completely blemish free, there are the odd, small scuff marks to two of the opposing corners of the front and rear bumpers. This however could be rectified very easily if needed and doesn’t detract from the incredible overall condition of the rest of the car.
All four original, 15” alloy wheels are in a good all-round condition, with no actual kerbing or damage to speak of, although they could be further improved by a simple refurbishment to eliminate the marks left from old balancing weights which have since been removed.
The car has been recently detailed, which included a thorough decontamination of the bodywork and trim, a clay bar to all exterior paintwork and then a stage one machine polish to help return the car to its original showroom condition. It really has responded well to the work and it’s hard to believe the car is as old as it is.
After I purchased the car recently on a whim, I have resisted the ever-growing urge to spend thousands on it making it a pristine, collection worthy example, this is unfortunately a trap I find myself falling into more often that not with whatever I buy. Having said that, even with very minimal of work to certain small areas, this could quite easily be a near concourse condition e32. The areas that I believe would benefit from some attention are, the bottom of the doors edges. The rubber strips have started to perish and water or condensation has started to make its away along the interior side and some surface corrosion is now appearing. Again, nothing major, but in the interest of being transparent, I think it needs to be pointed out, so any interested party can address this if they so wish.
MECHANICS
Unsurprisingly, being barely run in at just 38, 000 miles, the straight six 3. 0 litre M30 engine is both ultra smooth and quiet, whilst pulling like a train through the slick, four-speed automatic gearbox. The car really is german engineering at its very best and coming from an era when BMW were properly putting together their vehicles.
Going forward, the car would benefit from a thorough and full Inspection 2 service at BMW, in order to keep the full main dealer service history maintained and to refresh of any old fluids and filters that are maybe past their use by date. This could be arranged at the buyers expense if needed prior to collection.
As a precautionary measure, a simple interim oil and filter change has been carried out upon purchasing the vehicle, just so I knew the car wasn’t still using old oil, as it had been standing for some time before this.
OVERALL
This really is a great opportunity to acquire an extremely usable modern classic, coupled together with the extremely low mileage, BMW service history and factory fresh look, I’m sure it will make a worthy addition to anyones collection. Obviously a viewing and test drive is always advised to make up your own mind.
I am open to sensible offers but I’m in no real rush to sell at the moment and would like the car to go to an enthusiast who will go on to maintain it and take it to the next level.
