Having had a production run of just 3 years from 1977 to 1980, the Bentley T2 benefitted from a number of improvements over the already successful T1 car, as with the improvements from the Rolls Royce Shadow I to the Shadow II cars. The 6, 750cc Bentley L Series engine was retained, mated to the 3-speed Automatic Gearbox. The biggest change, however, was with the addition of Rack and Pinion steering, which enabled a more predictable driving experience over the previous, and already supremely comfortable, model. Split-level Air Conditioning, rear head restraints, revised dashboard and one-piece rubber-faced bumpers all further enhanced the distinguishing features for this low-production, highly-collectible car. The 1979/ 80 cars received Bosch CIS fuel injection. Hence why the Bentley T2 is seen as a sweet spot for reliable, sedate and satisfying Bentley ownership.
The car we have for sale here was built in August 1978, and painted in Masons Black with a St. James Red Hide interior, as it wears today, and being beautifully patinated. Lambswool overmats complement both the front and rear footwells for that extra feeling of luxury. The vehicle is currently with the 5th owner, and has covered 93, 665 miles. Whilst there appears to be little service history with the vehicle prior to 2013, it is rather a different story since then, and in our opinion, more than makes up for the lack of historical documents. It is evident from the condition of the vehicle that it has had regular maintenance throughout its life. However, what has taken place since 2013 is, frankly, one of the largest lists of maintenance work, care and attention that we have ever seen lavished on a vehicle by the owner, for quite some time. The fastidiousness of the last owner, the list of complete works undertaken over the last 4 years, and total of invoices exceeds £50, 0000, means that this car is one of the best available at this moment in time, and at this price. Both the bodywork and paintwork present beautifully, with no evidence of accident damage or corrosion. Needless to say, everything works on the car, it drives superbly, and would make as fine an example of the model as one could ever wish to find. All of the work has been undertaken by Marque specialists Frank Dale and Stepsons, with the bulk of the work having been done by Nigel Sandell’s RR+B Garages since late 2019 until Feb 2022.
Rarely have we seen such a car that requires absolutely nothing done to it. Adjust the seat and mirrors to your height, and simply drive it away.
