Intro:
Finished in the iconic shade of Moonstone Blue, this Fast Ford was 1st registered on 01. 08. 86 and is virtually totally original, she was purchased as an unwelded, matching numbers car and has also not been welded while in my ownership. (Please see the pictures A4 laminated, 100+ & history file, they tell a story).
The previous owner searched long and hard for a car that had never been welded, have any rot or been modified. Indeed, this car is in truly superb condition on the underside, as you will see from the pictures. Not only that but the previous keeper spent a fortune professionally protecting the shell, fitting all new suspension, brakes and replacing many of the underside components, the car had been in long term storage, 13 years (See letter in history file). She drove lovely on the initial test drive and indeed also on the 80-mile drive home the same night. There was a genuine reason for selling the car, the owner was retiring and emigrating from the UK.
We can also confirm that D848 UOD has never been registered stolen or crashed. Somewhat, rare for a Cosworth nowadays. Even rarer, she has matching numbers to the vin-plate and V5. She was also fitted with a new Toad alarm by the previous owner and comes with two sets of keys and a period RS keyring.
Interior:
When purchased, the car was fitted with a late CD player for ease of use, the good news is that the original stereo was purchased with the car. This was not changed as I don’t have any cassette tapes. The original Stereo will come with the car. The rest of the interior is original and in superb condition throughout. With the exception of the very small cracks in the dash centre,(very common) I have been assured that these small cracks can be repaired and that many owners have had this repair done.
Engine / Transmission
As can be seen by the mileage the car has been used very sparingly as a weekend, sunny day toy and kept in a de-humidified garage. The car was entrusted to Obsessive Car Care who have two other RS cars being built, one road & one race. With D848 UOD believed to be in original unmodified condition throughout I asked Obsessive Car Care to replace all the engine electricals’ with NOS to ensure full reliability in the future, the following work was undertaken & completed at (63, 995 miles) Full Service, Cam Belt, cam pulley seals, Distributor rebuild, Phase Sensor, Distributor cap, rotor arm, Full set of high quality ignition leads, crank sensor, water temp sensor, coil, ignition module and an air charge sensors. Many parts were from Burton Engineering or Graham Goode Racing. At this time a tiny core plug leak was detected from the rear of the engine, a new core-plug was fitted along with a top of the range new standard ‘original’ specification clutch from Graham Goode Racing (Cosworth Specialists). Graham Goode have also looked over the car and road tested prior to be in their car being collected. (Thank you Alistair). As can be seen by the invoices this car has been looked after and fettled by professional marque specialists not private individuals. I went over the top on the engine electrics as I had intended to keep the car long term and wanted her reliable on the motorways etc for obvious reasons.
From memory she has approx’ 6 months MOT with no advises, we intend to put a full 12/ 13 months MOT on her at the appropriate time.
General:
This now rare, standard Cosworth suddenly becomes even more desirable as the government (DFT) are looking at modified classics and God only knows where this will end in the future.
The last two fastidious owners have each spent a fortune on this car, the latter being well into 5 figures, all the work being carried out by professional garages. Needless to say, she looks great and drives beautifully, even on our awfully maintained roads.
On the Outside
Moonstone is arguably the best shade for a road ‘Cossie’ and this example is no exception to that rule, she presents in fantastic condition throughout. The car has recently undergone a professional full body refurbishment to bring her back to A1 condition. The work carried out by Classic specialists, GT Evolution. Replacement seals were sourced as required and all the trim is present and correct.
Wheels / Tyres
All five wheels are in perfect condition ‘post renovating’ the wheels were shod with new quality tyres to finish off.
History:
The history comprises, 2 x A4 folders that come with the car. 1= History & receipts for works completed. The other is a very comprehensive A4 laminated photographic record of D848 UOD. Not only does this folder confirm the condition of the underside metalwork, suspension, brake system it also confirms the matching number to chassis plate, engine bay, boot and of course the interior. The pictures are also available in e-format.
To confirm, the car will be sold from the address on the V5 and from the owner stated on the V5. Hope that puts people’s mind at rest. Also due to the health issue the car has not as yet been seen at any events, Classic or Ford, personally a real bonus for the new owner as everyone likes a new car on the scene especially in RS 3 door circles.
The bad bit,
Not really, there are a few very small ‘hardly noticeable’ cracks adjacent to the centre vent on the dash, I have been assured that these can be repaired and that’s it really. Surely the new owner will want to have something to do post purchase! ;o)
NOTE: The mileage may rise very slightly, this is because given the right warm sunny weather I would love to take her for a short spin in the sun now and again.
There are many more pictures available to demonstrate the true condition of this car, please just message me and I will ‘whats app’ more pictures including the dash crack as above. (Sorry but I had to pick a max of 12 shots to give an overview).

Genuine reason for sale.
Sadly it’s health that is forcing the sale of this and three of my other Classic Fast Fords. The end of an era. ;o(
