Vintage & Prestige is extremely proud to offer this hugely original matching number Maserati Merak 3000.
The Merak was lovingly cared for all its life and still carries its matching orange paintwork. The interior is perfect. The mechanical side is freshly serviced, original and in perfect order and has seen extensive service by European marque specialist Franz Wittner.
The end result is a very fast, reliable yet civilized road car that can easily be compared to a Porsche 911 or Ferrari 308 of the same era. But much more elegant in charm and style with its impressive Giugiaro design.
As experts know, this is the early model without emission control equipment that exceeds the later SS both in performance and driving experience.
This very lovely Merak has needless to say been utterly reliable on many European tours through Italy, Germany and Austria and has been run a few miles every month to keep it in good fettle when not being used. The engine has never seen dark motor oil, changes having been made every 1500 miles.
Technical aspects are:
- The car has been the subject of a comprehensive technical overhaul and services by marque specialist Franz Wittner over a period of many years.
- The complete hydraulic system was freshly overhauled, which is a major criterium for these cars.
- The chassis including brakes and suspension was recently very comprehensively overhauled.
- New tires have been fitted on freshly painted wheels.
- The corrosion free body was treated with special oils to improve its longevity.
- The engine had all its major services done including valves, belts, fluids and timings.
- All in an amount of over 85. 000 Euros was invested into the car by its last owner.
The car is now for sale due to a swap against our big block Corvette C2 Convertible.
Simply put, it would be difficult to find a better sorted & more charming early Merak 3000 then this example.
It has that lovely italian light patina of use to the fine leather seats and orange paintwork making it a very usable machine for the long summer trips to the english country side or to the Italian lakes.
During its time the Merak has been the subject of magazine articles, one of them you will find published in the photo documentation below and will be included with the sale of the car.
