I have owned this 1967 Carmen Red 3. 4 Jag Mk2 for the last four years, but unfortunately it's time for it to find a new home. It's been a cracking car, and mechanically is on the button. Whilst having a few bodywork imperfections there is no rust on the underside of the car (a big worry with these cars!). Its matching numbers, and I have history for it back to 1990.
During my ownership I've carried out the following work:
-Fully rebuilt engine from pistons up. Carried out in 2019 when replacing a clutch - whilst the engine was out of the car we went for a belts and braces approach
-Refreshed all suspension including springs, dampers and all bushes including subframe bushes.
-New Zeus 4 pot front brakes
-Fitted an electric fan
-Had the overdrive reconditioned by Overdrive Repair Services in Sheffield.
The car is incredibly usable - I've toured Yorkshire, Devon, Wales, Belgium etc in it and would have no worries in jumping in it to drive anywhere. She's not a show queen by any stretch, but I've always found that it makes me less worried about taking it on adventures.
Would make a great rolling restoration for someone that wanted to tidy up the bodywork, or a great user for someone that wanted to get in and go.
Bad points:
-A few flaky bits of paint and a little bubbling and bottoms of doors/ around headlights.
-Very rarely driven in rain, but judging by whistling would benefit from new door/ window seals.
Prices for MK2 Jags seem to be all over the place - I have priced this one at what I deem fair for the amount of work that's gone in, but open to offers. Career change forces sale - I just don't think I'm going to get to use it as much as it deserves.
