For Sale is my lovely 2000 W Reg X308 Jaguar XJR fitted with the relatively rare factory option of the R1 Package.
It is finished in Topaz metallic with Oatmeal interior and Burr Walnut veneer.
This car was registered 14/ 03/ 2000 and was originally registered to Jaguar Cars Ltd of Coventry as a management car for the company until 31/ 08/ 2001. In 2003 the car passed to the editor of the Jaguar Enthusiast Club magazine, Dorset branch who kept it amongst other Jaguars such as E-Types and passed the car on 10 years later in late 2013. The owner previous to myself had the car from 2013 up until 2021 and carried out a number of restoration works as pictured and the car had a respray and wheel refurbishment following these works in early 2021. The documentation of this car is fantastic and it has been looked after extremely well throughout its life as denoted by the almost spotless recent MOT history.
The car itself is an almost full option car bar the sunroof. As the pictures show, it has heated seats, heated screen, sat nav, cruise, folding mirrors, telephone package, Alpine stereo system with 6 CD changer with cassette and memory drivers seat. The rare factory option of the R1 package (around £4, 500 when new) included larger vented and drilled discs, larger calipers and braided hoses, these larger brakes meant larger wheels which are BBS Milans and supposedly slightly tweaked CATS adaptive suspension.
The whole rear suspension has been refurbished by the previous owner with new bushes and has been completely stripped and powder coated. The underside of this car is in truly fantastic condition and it rides beautifully without a sound (other than the spectacular supercharged V8!)
There are invoices for the head gaskets having been changed in the past as well as thermostat and also timing chains & guides, etc. As it has been in enthusiast ownership, essentially no expense has been spared. I personally have replaced the front discs and pads when I took ownership and more recently an ignition coil as cylinder number 5 had a random misfire - this is now completely sorted. The previous owner also had a stainless exhaust system fitted from Double 'S' Exhausts in 2020 which removes the backboxes to retain a very civilised note but allows the engine to purr through as you gain speed.
The car has passed a recent MOT with flying colours with the tester commenting how clean it was and that the emissions test was as close to zero as he had seen!
The sad fact is that I must let the car pass to a new owner now as I have lost indoor storage and cannot afford to keep as many cars.
Where the repairs to the arches have been carried out recently, there are a couple of very small areas of bubbling sadly coming through, but this is naturally reflected in the fact that I have priced it lower than the cleaner R1s I have seen sold recently. This lower price will give the new owner an opportunity to do any cosmetic repairs they wish.
The only other addition I can give is that the parking sensors have not worked since I have owned the car and presumably for a previous owner, this meant a slight knock to the rear left bumper edge chipping the paintwork very slightly.
I had always wanted to own one of these beautiful cars and I have been stunned at how smoothly and quietly it can waft along, but also with how the suspension can adapt and make the car handle far better than a car of this size should! I do not want to part with it, but sadly needs must and I would love to see it pass to a new loving home.
Along with the history, the car comes with its spare wheel, boot toolkit, never opened under-bonnet toolkit, all the manuals, two Motorola Jaguar phones for the armrest cradle, a Cross pen in the glovebox, the original build sheet/ sticker and two keys with fobs plus the all important green Valet Key.
