Two door 1600E’s are rare Ford produced these for the European market but in nowhere near the numbers of the better known four door models. Only 2749 two door models were produced probably making them the rarest of all mk2 Cortina’s. A proportion of these two door 1600E’s were made in component form and were assembled in their country of use. These kits accounted for 1666 vehicles, the remaining 1083 vehicles were fully assembled in Dagenham between January 1969 to July 1970 making them even rarer and this car on offer is one of them - produced in June 1969.
This car is in extremely good condition having only had one Swedish owner up until around 2018. I’m the second UK owner and have owned and thoroughly enjoyed her for the past three years. The mileage is approximately 38000 miles which is backed up with comprehensive paperwork of past mot’s, services and repairs dating right back to the day of purchase 14/ 07/ 1969. It looks gorgeous and gets a lot of attention, not totally concours but is in extremely good condition. Very low mileage and has never been previously restored. It drives extremely well and pulls strongly through all the gears. No rust anywhere just a couple of tiny blemishes but honestly nothing of note. Interior is excellent and has its original cloth inserts on all seats, also original carpet throughout. Half chrome rostyles are excellent and just like new. No overheating problems at all, good oil pressure and ticks over smoothly. Starts, stops and drives superbly.
