Here at QuickandBig. com we are absolutely delighted to offer for sale, this fantastic super rare, ONE OWNER from new, UK registered, 1995, Volvo 850 T-5R, Manual, Saloon in Cream (Gull) Yellow, a Unicorn Hot Volvo.
All 850 T-5R’s are appreciating in value, if you can find one, manuals are climbing faster, saloons are rarer than estates, then try and find a one owner from new, UK example in the most iconic colour of Cream Yellow (often referred to as Gull Yellow – Gull being Swedish for yellow). We are lucky to have a Dark Olive Pearl manual estate for sale too (see the last pictures).
The 850 T-5R is a very special Volvo model, spawned back in the mid 1990’s, in the era of Volvo campaigning 850 T5 estates (affectionately known as the Flying Wardrobes) in the 1994 British Touring Car Championship. Volvo then went on to race the 850 Saloons to great success in the 1995 season.
850 T5-R’s were rare cars when new, only available in 1995, soon to be replaced by the 850R.
The 850 T-5R’s were only available in 3 colours, Cream Yellow, Dark Olive Pearl and Black Stone. Only 440, 850 T-5R’s came to the UK (only 118 of them were saloons) and only 28 of them were Manuals in Cream Yellow.
According to howmanyleft. com there are only 90 (of the original 440), 850 T-5R’s left (that’s number includes all saloons, estates, manuals, auto’s, all 3 colours, including imports) and over 60 of those are sorned, I assume as investments or in collections. Based on the above there may be less than 10 original UK, Cream Yellow, manual saloons left in existence.
The T-5R was developed with the help of Porsche, its 2. 3l, turbo charged, 5 cylinder engine developed 243bhp, it could dispatch 0-60 mph in 6. 0 seconds, and go on to a limited 152mph, rocket ship quick back in the mid “nineties”!
In short if you are in the market to invest in a piece of hot Volvo history, buy the best, original UK, one you can find. We specialise in finding rare “R” Volvo’s and are proud to have two of these rare manual 850 T5-R’s in stock. I wish I could keep them!
I apologise for using many “used car dealer clichés” during this description, but for this special car they are valid!
DTR 189 (private plate does not come with the car, it will be returned to its age related plate on sale) is a real “time warp car” being first registered to its only owner and keeper on 23/ 5/ 1995 . It was supplied by Slaters Motors (Volvo Main Dealer - North Wales). Over the last 27 years, our rare Volvo has been lovingly maintained by its original owner and is beautifully original.
Our 850 T5-R has only travelled 135, 122 miles, that’s on average of only 5, 000 miles per year. These iconic cars were built to be driven, ours served its long term owner well as a daily driver. Its condition is testament to the build quality of these iconic Volvo’s and the fastidious nature of its lucky owner.
Unfortunately as the years past our T5-R’s enthusiast owner was less able to use the Volvo, it has been stored for much of the last decade. Latterly having just been trailered for its annual MOT. Sadly, its last outing on the road was to accompany its long term owner’s recent funeral procession.
It has now been refreshed and recommissioned for its next custodian to enjoy, including having been professionally resprayed (excluding the roof, but including new window rubbers), wheel refurb, replacement cam belt and full service.
Our iconic saloon comes with a file of fascinating original documentation, including original service book, owners manual, Volvo Plus folder / card and accompanying letter, numerous receipts for routine maintenance and very, very rare, 850T5-R A3 sized launch photograph pack, one of the iconic images was even signed (at Silverstone) by Volvo / TWR British Touring Car, 1995 Championship drivers, Rickard Rydell and Tim Harvey
In the service book and accompanying file of documents there is evidence of 13 inspections and services, at 127k miles it had a replacement clutch and gearbox service, we have just had the cam belt / water pump changed and a full service.
Our rare 850’s last MOT does not expire until 9/ 11/ 22, we will of course put a fresh MOT on the T-5R for its new lucky owners benefit. In the cars accompanying file are numerous old MOT’s.
The original 17 inch Titan alloys, have been professionally stripped and powder coated in original Volvo Anthracite, they are fitted with Pirelli P Zero 205/ 45/ 17 tyres all round (5mm tread front and 4mm rear).
Our appreciating T5- R’s unique interior is presented in excellent condition, its “Amaretta” Black leather / alcantara interior with Burled Black Walnut trim, it’s a spacious, and comfortable place to be, and in beautiful condition for its age and mileage.
Back in the day, standard equipment was lavish on the 850 T-5R, including, 5 speed manual transmission, driver air bag, SIPS, ABS, TRACS (traction control), auto twin zone climate control, memory power drivers seat, memory power passenger seat, electric / heated wing mirrors, cruise control, heated front seats, built in child booster seat, 4 x electric windows, tilt and slide electric sun roof and rear arm rest.
As mentioned above our rare 850 T5-R manual comes with a folder fascinating history file, full size spare wheel, jack / wheel brace / tools, 2 working keys with remotes, service key, supplying main dealer key ring and tax disc holder, with numerous tax discs back to its 1st in 1995, and original 850 T-5R mats with yellow 850 accents.
It will have an independent 90+ point pre delivery inspection, for the new owners benefit. It is of course HPI clear and a full HPI report will be available to potential purchasers.
Many thanks for wading through our lengthy description, we believe it’s better to describe our cars fully. It is not in our interest to waste your time or ours with inaccurate descriptions. It does of course have the odd age related imperfection (which used car doesn’t), but for its age it really is excellent.
