The magnificent Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR roaster featured here was manufactured in 1983 by famed craftsman and former Mercedes-Benz employee Anton Ostermeier. His Gullwing car company based in Gardena, California manufactured these incredible reproductions regardless of the cost. They were handcrafted and fitted with Ford drivetrains, and they sold new for $83, 000, which at the time was more than a new Ferrari. Less than 30 were produced and only a fraction are known to exist today. For everyone not familiar, last month Mercedes-Benz factory sold one of the 12 original 300 SLRs for a world record price of $143 million, the highest price ever paid for any automobile. The incredible example featured here is finished in stunning Masons black over a black interior and matching folding convertible top. This exquisite example was just released from a prominent private collection and has been preserved in nearly new condition.
