I purchased this 109 locally around 8 years ago, it had failed the mot. When I got it to the workshop and started work I discovered it was actually in really good condition, just needing the brakes and steering joints replacing and new sill/ body frames where they had rusted. The chassis and bulkhead were really good and still are. I sprayed clear cavity wax inside all of the chassis and door pillars to prevent any rust. All the doors are very good as you can see in the pictures. The aluminium bodywork Is nearly all in its original factory paint and has a lovely portina but without any big dents or corrosion. The electrics have been upgraded with a full rewire with blade fuses, column stalks and intermittent wipers. Years ago the original engine was replaced with a Nissan LD28 straight six diesel, using a kit which was available back then. Incredibly it fits on the original mounts without any modifications so could easily be swapped back to an original engine at a later date if desired. The Nissan engine is from the same model year (1981) as the Land Rover and suits it well. I have also fitted some new leather seats which have a classic look and are comfortable and look right in the 5 door estate body. The Land Rover is registered as historic and as such the tax is free and also doesn't need an MOT which with classic insurance (mine was £115) makes it a cheap second vehicle. He drives well with good steering, riding on its original leaf springs and 7. 50r16 tyres on tubeless type rims. Looking for £7250 which I feel is a very reasonable price.
