Here we have my classic saab 900s turbo, this particular vehicle i have owned for over a year and has been my daily driver for the last 6 months. I have very much enjoyed living with the saab day to day but unfortunately the need for an estate vehicle has necessitated the sale. The saab gets admiring looks everywhere and i regularly get stopped at car shows, petrol stations and car parks by people of all ages who want to talk about it.
i purchased the 900s from a local couple who were part of a saab owners club, they purchased it on the recommendation from a saab specialist. The only reason they sold the saab to my was due to his partner finding the very saab 900 she learnt to drive in and owned as her first car, otherwise they would have kept it.
she has had 5 former keepers from new, i have the original saab sales wallet, owners manual and service book which contains 9 service stamps. I also have a file full of previous mot certificates and another with some parts replacement bills and service invoices. The current mot was issued last month so it has 11 months mot remaining. Some minor repairs were carried out at the time of the mot but nothing untoward to report, in fact for its age she has stood the test of time rather well.
this 900s turbo might not be for the 'purists' of the saab world as it has the following modifications; Short shift gearbox, turbo intercooler (from the saab 900 full pressure turbo), turbo gauge, later model saab alloy wheels, later model saab front and rear seats (the drivers seat is electric adjustable). although only subtle modifications and most in true saab fashion, it's worth making note of this.
to drive? wonderful! i have thouroughly enjoyed by time driving the saab, the intercooler and the short shifter work very well indeed making for an all round more engaging drive. i have done a few long distance journeys in her and she is a very comfortable cruiser with no untoward noises or smoke, and she sits at the correct temperature in heavy traffic. no 'crunching' from the gearbox, the clutch bites where you would want it to, the steering has a good feel to it and she has excellent road manners. no boost issues to mention either, she comes 'on song' without any fluctuation or hesitation. suffice to say she starts, idles, accelerates, handles and brakes all as you would expect, and possibly better.
the bodywork is in excellent order for her age, no rot in the front or rear arches (common issue), nice and straight down both sides with no nasty dents or unsightly scratches to mention. she is 30 years old, so there are a few imperfections here and there but i think you'll be pleasently surprised providing you're not expecting a new car. the paintwork retains its glossy shine all round and looks well in the dark green metallic, i feel the colour really suits the car. i have 50+ photos i can send via whatapp to prospective purchasers should you require before travelling to view.
the interior is in good condition for her years, no big rips or tears to the upholstery, headlining, carpets, or trim. there are a few marks to the tan upholstery but nothing untoward, and there are some minor cracks to the top of the dashboard, again, she is 30 years old.
so there we are! a cherished saab 900s turbo, manual, 5 doors, long mot, some service history, great bodywork, fairly low owners and an excellent drive. well worth travelling to view, i certainly don't think you will be disappointed. i will be sad to see the saab go, but unfortunately needs must.
may take a 'sporty' estate car in part exchange but would preffer an outright purchase.
