Description
1949 Morris Minor “Lowlight”
An early production Morris Minor, UK RHD car with only 3 previous owners. Very solid and original with all the early features present. Showing 29, 704 miles – which is understood to be correct but as with many cars of this age is unconfirmed.
It has a flathead type engine still fitted, which is believed to be original to the car. The engine turns by hand, has been running relatively recently and will start & run again with minimal work.
The car has been dry stored for a number of years and therefore is very solid, with evidence of only a few small repairs visible underneath; A previous owner has coated the exterior with a light primer at some point in its life, covering a shade of blue underneath as can be seen on the inside of some panels.
The transmission & suspension etc is all complete and in good order for a base to restore. The brakes are currently inoperative and will obviously require going through fully.
The interior is in great order, with a lovely, aged feel to it. The front split screen is with the car, just not installed.
At 73 years old, this Minor is a great basis for a restoration project, with all the right parts still present and with such great patina you could possibly either restore fully or just recommission mechanically and drive as it is. It has the key, and a V5 (sadly any further history has been mislaid by previous owners over the years). Non transferable registration
More photos are available on request, and the car can be viewed near Thame in Oxfordshire. Offered on behalf of a client who is thinning down his collection, sorry no part exchanges.
It’s being sold as restoration project and therefore will require trailering away – we can potentially provide a quote for transportation if required (at buyers cost).
