This spectacular example of the 1980 Austin Mini 1275GT has had just 3 owners in its life and has gone through a comprehensive photographed restoration exceeding £20, 000. The vehicle has been dismantled and the engine being removed, rebuilt and ported. Since the restoration, this Mini has covered approximately 500 miles.
When the two-year restoration work was completed in 2013, the Mini was carefully dismantled to component form, the shell was taken for chemical stripping to renowned experts, Surface Processing Limited. OEM panels were sourced including the front wings, rear quarter panels, door skins, valances, gusset closing panels, front panel, sill panels, front and rear subframe MPs and much more besides which facilitated the painstaking bodywork restoration. This Mini was zinc etch-primed before being professionally repainted in gloss black. Furthermore, this Mini has also been ceramic coated and the paintwork is extraordinary, giving the black paint a deep gloss shine. The underside was stone chipped and subsequently benefitted from careful rustproofing throughout. The brake linings were also replaced.
Superlight 12-inch alloy wheels finished in gold and chrome which match the gold stripes down the side. As well as this, this Mini also benefited from a new wiring loom, new Cibie spotlights and a variety of chrome parts.
The 1275 engine was removed, rebuilt and ported with the benefit of a duplex chain being fitted. The clutch and brake cylinders were also replaced, and it’s recently had a service which included a coolant change, too.
The interior could be mistaken for brand new, with Newton Commercial interior panels including quality fitted carpets and headlining to bring the Mini back to its former glory.
